Modding for Flight Sim X again: Found a river in Siberia that only has its shorelines present in the sim, so I’m fixing it. Those deep continental rivers are huge, slow flowing and very wide. This one is missing hundreds of miles from its length. To make a project like this managable, I’m doing it in sections and only have 2 to go.
You can see the shorelines in this pictures from the origonal Microsoft design that is faulty. It’s a shame that we cant get hold of their source file since it would be so easy to fix. the process involves drawing vector shapes in Google Earth, then save them as KML files. KML files are a kind of XML format that is used by GE. A free application then converts it to Microsoft’s bgl format. Anyone can drop the bgl into their copy of FSX to see the results in game.
