Found a new, unused sketch-book in a box recently. From now, it’s my new paintings book; the paper us much better, being thicker at 170gsm rather than 140. Even though the old book still has a dozen blank pages, I’m going to move over to this one from now.

The challenge here is to tease out details from an old school photo. Many photos taken in this way tens to be almost monochrome. There is a single colour of varying skin tone in the photo, another for shirt, hair and so on. My job, apart from the usual is to tease out colour where there is tone.

Acrylic onto bare cartridge paper. It’s an A5 sketchbook with nicer paper than the A4 book.
Bouyed up by reaction from the Y11s, I’m raising the pace slightly and started another. Half term is coming too.
